Modkid Sydney

One of my favorite little people turned three last week, and as her mom appreciates crafty endeavors, I made her a dress.  I love the idea of the Modkid Sydney pattern -- especially the hood! -- but not so much how roomy it appears to be (I don't get why "euro-style" seems to mean "big enough to fit three children"), so I modified the dress to have the fullness of the top pattern. The shirt has you use one length of fabric, so this wouldn't work on the bigger sizes, but since I made a 3, it worked well.

Ooga Olivia and Lily

My last project for KCWC was this dress and leggings set for E.  I've been hanging on to this purple Ooga Booga print and coordinating stripe for months, and it was time to sew it up!  The dress is the Farbenmix Olivia underdress without the hood or pocket.  E's tall and thin, so I added an inch of additional length to the size 86/92.

The pants are the Lily leggings from Ottobre 06/2007.  She's moving into 3T in RTW, so I made size 98 without a seam allowance on the legs, but the fit is more like pants than leggings.  She'll either need to chunk up, or I have to remember to size down more for a slimmer fit.  ;)

I was really excited at how nice my hem with the twin needle turned out!  I've tried it less successfully in the past, but read to use Wooly Nylon in the bobbin, which made a huge difference.  I'll definitely be using that often.

Fleece Poncho for L.

The next finished project from KCWC is a fleece poncho for my nephew, who is turning one.  Ponchos are my favorite outerwear for babies and toddlers, since they're so easy to slip on and can be put over the car seat straps, which is safer than having a bulky coat between the child and the straps.

It's size 18 months from the Sew Baby Poncho Pizzazz pattern, modified to have a curved hood and elastic around the face.  The fleece is Malden Mills 200 wt Polartec.  Whenever I sew with it, I wonder why I even bother with fleece from JoAnn's.  This is so much nicer!  I wish I could get it locally.

Next up is a dress for E, if I ever make up my mind about which pattern to use!

Patrick Curved Raglan for O.

Since most of my sewing is for the small people in our household, what better time to kick of a sewing blog than during the Kids Clothes Week Challenge?  It's day four and I finally finished my first item, a Patrick Curved Raglan, one of  my go-to patterns.
